Why did the Strategy Guide Company Versus Books go out of business?

business books
iPowers asked:

Versus Books was a strategy guide company that really had a lot of things in their guides that no other company had. For example, in the pokemon games, they said every single trainer and their pokemon in the guide, where other ones they figure it out themselves.

they had it a l ot like the text guides on http://www.gamefaqs.com with images and stuff on it.

Why did they go out of business? Can anyone give me some info and maybe a link to go with it?

The Internet my friend. The internet is slowly killing off print. If you really like strategy guides, your game FAQ’s site is good; I like gamewinners.com just for cheat codes and such.
Strategy guides (printed) are more expensive and people can get the same information for free over the Internet. The justification being, why pay $30 for a guide when you can easily get it for free? Sorry you’re bummed about this; I personally had no loyalties to the strategy guide business.
