I’m definitely well past the point where I can count all of the Beatles books I’ve read. Safe to say it’s more than just seven. But these are the seven of those books that most stand out and that I highly recommend to you.
The Beatles Anthology - If I had to recommend just one book to every Beatles fan it would be this. It’s The Beatles story as told by The Beatles themselves and it’s filled with great information, great insights, and fantastic pictures.
The Beatles Complete Scores - The “must have” book for any musician who wants to play The Beatles music. It includes the scores for every Beatles song released from ‘62 through ‘70.
Many Years From Now - Paul McCartney wrote this book with Barry Miles (who was around the band during the ’60s.) This is a great first person account on the The Beatles.
Revolution In The Head - Includes interesting opinions and informaton about every recording The Beatles have released. It’s a great resource and an interesting point of view on The Beatles music.
The Beatles As Musicians - I’m actually cheating a bit with this book because this is actually a two book series. One covers the The Beatles from their beginnings through Rubber Soul and the other picks up at Revolver through 1970. This book is meant for those interested in an extremely detailed look at The Beatles music (not their biography, but their songs.) If you don’t like music theory, you probably won’t like this book!
Recording The Beatles - This is a book that’s aimed only at the most serious “gear heads” who need to know every detail of how The Beatles music was recorded.
Here, There, & Everywhere: My Life Recording The Beatles - This book really “puts you in the studio” with the band. This is probably most interesting to those who are really interested in the process of how The Beatles music was recorded.
Almost all of these Beatles books are available to be downloaded and read with the Kindle DX and with the new Kindle with Global Wireless digital reading gadgets.
