One Response to “Can you get equivelent business/finance acumen from books at the library instead of college?”

  • Robin Helweg-Larsen

The quality of college education, like that of business books, varies widely. And for the most part, nothing is as essential as business experience.

Some colleges offer business simulations as part of the education, and that makes them superior to books. Kent State, NC State, Babson College and Butler University, among others, have used Income/Outcome business simulations to develop business acumen, financial literacy and entrepreneurial skills among undergraduates in the US. This is a hands-on experience that combines teamwork, competition, decision-making and financial analysis that provides a richness of experience and understanding that you cannot get from books.
