Can anyone recommend any books (or websites) which could help me with setting up my own business?

business books
kchick8080 asked:

I want to start my own business, offering holstic treatments such as Indian Head Massage, Reiki and reflexology, I would like to have my own salon/treatment rooms. I don’t really know where to start; I am a qualified therapist but just need some advice on the practical side of things. If anyone can offer me words of wisdom or point me in the right direction towards helpful reading material it would be much apreciated!

Assuming you live in the US, I make 3 suggestions:
    1. Contact your local SBA or Small Business Association. They havea wealth of information and offer many classes to help you. They are usually located in your local community college.
    2. Contact your local chamber of commerce and see if they can introduce any connections for you.
    3. Start your business anyway and join a local chapter of BNI or Business Network International. This is a business referral group which only allow 1 representative per industry per chapter. They usually meet once during weekday mornings for breakfast and you’d immediately meet small business owners in your local area. Once you are in as the Massage Therapist, you are that group’s one and only Massage Therapist. You will not have any competition. This group also has international chapters. You can keep on visiting chapters until you find the right one. You will meet lots of people who will not only become your friends, mentors, but, for your business expansion needs, one of your biggest and free sales force. BNI’s motto: “Givers Gain” You give referrals, you get referrals.

    Enjoy!
